Contributions for roads

Development and road construction contributions are collected in Jena by the Contributions department of Kommunalservice Jena.
In October 2019, road construction contributions were abolished with retroactive effect from January 1, 2019. This means that all road improvement measures are no longer co-financed by the property owners, unless parts of the road, e.g. for property access via footpaths, have to be constructed more expensively than would be necessary for pedestrian traffic. The responsible reimbursement authority is the Thuringia State Administration Office.

Development contributions

The levying of development charges for the construction of new roads to the citizens of Jena will continue.

We are the information point for property owners who are or will be asked by the City of Jena to contribute to the costs of renewing their road.

The schemes for calculating contributions in Jena are explained to interested citizens and they receive answers to frequently asked basic questions. In addition, the relevant laws in the "Building Code" and "Thuringian Local Rates Act" can be read, as well as the local bylaws on development law and the relevant case law.
