At the recycling center

Here’s how it works on site:

  1. Park your vehicle on the “weighing area” and check in at the scale.
  2. Then please follow the instructions of the recycling center staff.
Our trained staff will determine where each item should be properly disposed of.

Those delivering waste must provide accurate information about the origin and composition of the materials (in writing, if necessary, including personal identification details). If third-party companies or similar entities are making deliveries at our recycling centers, the client must also be present. Guardians must present a valid power of attorney for guardianship and a copy of their ID. Family members may drop off bulky waste upon presentation of a copy of their ID. This requires proof of a power of attorney for guardianship or care, a death certificate, or a lease agreement.
  3. Re-weighing and Billing
After unloading, the items will be reweighed. To do this, please park your car on the “weighing area” again and report to the weighing office.
Charges are based on volume or weight. (In Lobeda-West, only very small quantities are charged by weight.)
Payment options: cash or debit/credit card

Where do you take old electronics? How do you sort glass for recycling, and what happens to the cardboard boxes? Freddy got to experience a lot and dispose of even more. Watch the video

Material flow

Material Flows at the Recycling Center

The KSJ collects waste separately and manages the respective disposal routes (e.g., reuse, material recycling, thermal recycling, landfilling). All material flows are tracked. They provide information, for example, on the types and quantities of waste and serve as the basis for proper disposal and the development of recycling center infrastructure.

At the “Löbstedter Straße” recycling center, over 40 different types of waste are now collected separately. Approximately 98% of the waste at the recycling center can be recovered through thermal or material recycling.
