Today, on International Garbage Collection Day, Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) extends its gratitude to everyone who works daily to keep the city tidy and clean—not only the garbage collectors, but also their colleagues in city cleaning, the bulky waste service, the used textile and electronic waste disposal teams, the recycling centers, and the container service.
While most of the city is still asleep, the workday has long since begun for these teams. In the early morning hours, they’re out and about, emptying trash cans, cleaning streets and squares, picking up bulky waste, and ensuring reliable disposal. This work often happens behind the scenes and is all too easily taken for granted. In reality, however, it requires reliability, discipline, and dedication—in all kinds of weather, all year round. Whether it’s rain, snow, or heat: a city can and must be able to rely on these services.
A clean cityscape, smooth operations, and reliable waste disposal are no accident, but the result of hard work, well-coordinated processes, and a strong sense of responsibility. For this, all KSJ employees deserve our sincere and heartfelt thanks. Day after day, you ensure that Jena runs smoothly. Without making a big fuss, but with results that everyone can see.
