When will my waste garbage cans be emptied?
For the city of Jena, please select your street first. Then make a selection for the house number.
All postponed dates are already taken into account in the online waste disposal calendar and are indicated by "red dates".
You will also find an overview of postponed dates due to public holidays below the calendar.

Christmas tree disposal
A special tour will collect the trees from January 12 - 16, 2026.
Disposal takes place on the dates for organic waste.
Example: If your organic waste container is regularly emptied on a Monday, place the decorated tree next to your organic waste container at 6:00 a.m. on this day with a maximum length of 1.50 m, shorten if necessary!
Disposal then takes place on the respective disposal days of the organic waste collection (place next to the container, shorten if necessary).
Biowaste disposal 2026
Organic waste disposal varies seasonally throughout the year.
In the period from week 1 to week 9, collection only takes place every 14 days in the even calendar weeks.
From week 10 to week 53, organic waste is collected weekly throughout the city.
Alternatives
If, in individual cases, the existing container volume is not sufficient due to a high volume of organic waste, additional containers can be purchased. There is also the option of self-delivery at the recycling center.

Postponement of waste disposal in 2026
The general public holiday regulation - catch-up disposal
If the emptying falls on a public holiday, the disposal of the remaining days is postponed to the following working day.
This applies to:

Exceptions - early disposal
There will be early disposal due to the following public holidays. (Good Friday, Labor Day and Christmas)
- Good Friday
Disposal will be brought forward due to Good Friday.
This means emptying from:

| Tuesday, | march 31 | will take place on Monday, | march 30 |
| Wednesday, | april 1 | will take place on Tuesday, | march 31 |

- Labor Day
Due to Labor Day, waste disposal will be brought forward.
This means emptying from:

| Wednesday, April | april 29 | will take place on Tuesday, | april 28th |

- Christmas Day
Due to Labor Day, waste disposal will be brought forward.
This means emptying from:
