Waste Collection Dates
When will my trash cans be emptied?
For the city of Jena, please first select your street. Then select your house number.
Any schedule changes due to holidays are already reflected in the online waste collection calendar and are indicated by “red dates.”
Organic Waste Disposal in 2026
Organic waste collection varies seasonally throughout the year.
From calendar weeks 1 through 9, collection takes place only in even-numbered calendar weeks on a 14-day cycle.
From the 10th through the 53rd calendar week, organic waste is collected weekly throughout the entire city.
Alternatives
If, in individual cases, the existing container capacity is insufficient due to a high volume of organic waste on a property, additional containers can be purchased. It is also possible to drop off organic waste yourself at the recycling center.

Christmas Tree Disposal
A special collection run picked up the trees from January 11–15, 2027, and from January 18–22, 2027 .
Example: If your organic waste bin is normally emptied on a Monday, place the undecorated tree next to your organic waste bin by 6:00 a.m. on that day. The tree may be no longer than 1.50 m and must be cut to size if necessary.
The tree will then be collected on the respective organic waste collection days. To ensure proper disposal, place the tree next to the bin and trim it if necessary.
