Bismarck Fountain
in 1894, the Bismarck Fountain on the market square was inaugurated to commemorate Bismarck's visit to Jena in 1892 and his speech at the same location. Due to severe material damage and fountain technology in need of repair, it became necessary to reconstruct and rebuild the market ensemble with fountain and toilet. In 2008, the Bismarck Fountain underwent a restoration in connection with the new construction of the market toilet, during which the defective fountain basin was given a new stainless steel design. In the process, the Bismarck Fountain was completely removed and rebuilt. Since then, it has been used as a fountain again.
