Campfires
A total of three public campfire sites are available in the city forest, which can be booked for a fee.
These are located below the Lobdeburg, on the Jägerberg and at the stone cross.

Jägerberg campfire site
The campfire site on the Jägerberg offers an unobstructed view over the north of the city. A parking lot is approx. 100 m away. After approval, up to three tents (2 to 3 people each) can be set up here.
Lobdeburg campfire site
The campfire site below Lobdeburg Castle offers an unobstructed view over Jena Lobeda and is surrounded by forest. A parking lot is located below (approx. 300 m on foot) the campfire site. Camping is not possible here.
Stone cross campfire site
The campfire site is located directly at the parking lot and is therefore a good starting or finishing point for hikes. Camping is not possible here.
To make a reservation request, please use the booking calendar or send an email to lagerfeuer@jena.de. You will receive a confirmation of your reservation.
ATTENTION: You must confirm your reservation by telephone or e-mail one week before the reserved date. Otherwise the fireplace will be released again.
Before the fire you must make the payment in our office and fill out a written agreement. Payment is made in cash or by EC card. You will receive the key(s) for the wood box(es) on this date.
The use of the campfire site including 0.5 rm of wood costs 60 EUR. The deposit for the key to the wood box is EUR 20 (refundable after the key has been returned).
A further 0.5 rm of wood costs 40 EUR. In this case, you will receive a second key and must pay an additional key deposit (EUR 20). The total cost for 1 rm of wood is therefore 100 EUR plus 40 EUR deposit.
- Roasting/barbecuing is possible at all campfire sites
- Camping (up to 3 tents, 2-3 persons each) is only permitted on the Jägerberg.
- No costs will be refunded in the event of bad weather.
- From forest fire warning level 3, the dates will be canceled and the money refunded.
Campfires may only be used if the forest fire warning level is 2 or lower. Please contact the German Weather Service on the day of the planned fire to find out the current warning level.
Please note: The forest fire warning level is only published from March to October.
- Ensure that the fire is completely extinguished under supervision.
- Water may be used to extinguish the fire.
- The fire must be supervised at all times by a person of legal age.
- The fire safety conditions must be observed.
- Only environmentally friendly materials (small quantities of paper, cardboard, commercially available firelighters) are to be used as igniters. The use of mineral oil of any kind, such as gasoline, spirits, used oil, etc. is prohibited.
- Only wood provided by the municipal forest may be used. The wood is natural and has been stored for at least one year.
- Only designated campfire sites may be used.
- According to the Thuringian Forest Act § 12, open fires are prohibited in the forest or at a distance of less than 100 meters from the forest. Exceptions to this rule are fireplaces set up and approved by the forestry authorities.
- The allocated site must be left clean and in an orderly condition, any kind of waste must be removed, only the ashes of the wood can remain in the campfire site.
- It is pointed out that the organizer is responsible for any damage (fire) that may occur.
