Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) is now participating in a campaign to protect cranes with a collection point for wine bottle corks. You will find the new, registered collection point at the Löbstedter Straße 56 recycling center.
The aim of this campaign is to recycle valuable cork. It helps to preserve cork oak forests in the cranes' wintering grounds and to obtain ecological insulation material.
Collection balance: In 2022 , a total of 150 kg of cork stoppers were collected at the northern recycling center. In the following year 2023 , 140 kg were collected. These were handed over to NAJU Jena (Naturschutzbund Deutschland, Jena youth group) to support crane conservation, among other things.
The corks are collected in a marked brown garbage can at the recycling center at Löbstedter Straße 56. They can be dropped off during opening hours.
