Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) took part in this year's nationwide Read Aloud Day to promote the joy of reading and the importance of stories in children's development.

The guests were:

On November 17, 2023, one group each from the Ziegenhainer Tal and Joni and Jona daycare centers. The book "Muddelkuddel" - on loan from the Ernst Abbe Library - was read aloud by reader Ulrike Schönfelder.

"I am delighted to be part of the nationwide Read Aloud Day and to contribute to promoting reading skills among children in our community," said Ulrike Schönfelder, [Waste Advisor I Environmental Education] from the KSJ. "Reading aloud is not only an entertaining activity, but also helps to promote language development and imagination, especially on the subject of waste separation."

The nationwide Read Aloud Day is an initiative that aims to highlight the importance of reading aloud for children's education and personal development. The KSJ will also be taking part in Reading Aloud Day next year.

In essence, the children and teachers were given a brief insight into the topics of waste, recycling and the careful use of resources.
