On Saturday, June 7, the Repair Café Jena was a guest at the Umwelthaus at the northern recycling center (Löbstedter Straße 56) - the former swap house - from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
Visitors were able to bring along broken everyday items and repair them on site with the help of volunteers. Over 50 visitors took advantage of the offer to bring broken items such as electrical appliances, clothes, toys or bicycles for repair. The result of the afternoon: 16 of 35 repair attempts were successfully completed - three of them even "healed" themselves. In the case of eight other devices, the fault could be identified but the necessary spare parts were missing.
The Repair Café Jena (RC) pursues a simple but effective goal: keeping things instead of throwing them away. Under the motto"Throw away? No thanks!", experienced craftsmen, technicians and hobbyists help to extend the life of electrical appliances, clothing, toys, bicycles and much more - thereby making an important contribution to environmental protection. The initiative thrives on voluntary commitment. Anyone with manual skills, technical know-how or organizational talent who would like to get involved is always welcome.
