Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) has been commissioned by the city of Jena to provide information on the current status of construction work on the new Brückenstraße/Wiesenstraße traffic circle, a central traffic junction in the northern part of the city.
The project is still on schedule. The contractually agreed completion date is November 28, 2025 and the work has been carried out without any delays to date. The traffic circle is being built at an elevated level. This measure is part of a coordinated flood protection concept for the affected area. The junction is located near the Rautalgraben and other areas at risk of flooding. The raised design of the traffic circle is intended to sustainably improve the protection of adjacent traffic and commercial areas. The ramps to the four junction arms (towards Wiesenstraße, Brückenstraße, Löbstedter Straße and Naumburger Straße) are a direct result of this height adjustment. They ensure a safe connection to the surrounding roads. The design of the structure was developed on the basis of water management, traffic planning and technical requirements. Existing pipeline routes, terrain profiles and future traffic routing were taken into account. The planning was coordinated in advance with the relevant authorities.
The new traffic circle is part of a more comprehensive infrastructure package to improve traffic in the north of Jena, which also includes the renovation of the adjacent Wiesenstraße. These works have been coordinated in terms of timing and traffic in order to exploit synergies and minimize the impact on local residents. The City of Jena and the KSJ ask for your understanding for the inconvenience caused by the work.
