Forester (m/f/d)

As a forester, you can expect a very extensive and varied range of tasks.

Professional education focuses on the following areas:

• Knowledge and skills in timber harvesting, sorting and surveying
• Forest regeneration - planting and protecting young trees, initiating natural regeneration
• Rejuvenation care, forest maintenance, forest road construction
• Forestry technology - handling, maintaining and repairing machines and equipment
• Forest protection - measures against forest damage and preventive forest protection
• Land cultivation work, construction and maintenance of hiking trails and conservation and recreational facilities
• Maintenance of biotopes of nature conservation importance

Professional education

takes place at the state vocational school center in Ilmenau.

The practical vocational training

is carried out in the urban forestry department of Kommunalservice Jena and in inter-company training workshops.

Prerequisites for this profession are

• Standard school leaving certificate 10th grade
• manual skills and technical understanding
• logical thinking skills
• high physical resilience
• Ability to work in a team, commitment, flexibility and reliability
  

Professional education lasts 3 years.

The final examination

is taken at the Thuringian State Office for Agriculture and Rural Areas.

Start of training

is always in the official school and training year.
