The Christmas tree donation campaign for Hospiz Jena took place for the fifth time this year. From December 4 to 12, 2025, citizens were able to purchase freshly cut Christmas trees for a donation every day between 10 am and 6 pm on the premises at Paul-Schneider-Straße 5. The trees, which ranged in height from 1.25 to 4 meters, were cut on site. The campaign has proven its worth over the years and is widely supported in Jena.
As part of the fundraising campaign, Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) once again provided financial support. Monika Hirche and Sebastian Haubner from Förderverein Hospiz Jena e. V. accepted a donation cheque for 500 euros, presented by Uwe Feige, Works Manager of KSJ. The cooperation has existed for years and runs reliably, without much fuss. The KSJ supported the campaign for the fourth time by transporting the Christmas trees, which this time came from a plantation in Altenburg.
This year, special thanks also go to our colleagues from the city cleaning department, Steffen Nieswandt and Tino Petermann, who organized the transport and unloading of the trees on site together with the team from the hospice association. Their efforts contributed significantly to the smooth running of the event.
On December 6, the Christmas arts and crafts market will take place at the hospice, followed by the "Open Advent Calendar". From 3 p.m., regional exhibitors will present their crafts - including ceramists, stonemasons, wood carvers, wood carvers and herbalists. At 4 p.m., the Schnapphans Dance Company will perform excerpts from their Christmas program, providing an atmospheric finale.
The hospice association would like to thank everyone involved for their continued support. The donations help to continue the work of the hospice - a task that has been carried out with great commitment for many years.
