The construction work on Friedrich-Engels-Straße is on the home straight. However, the lifting of the full closure in the section between the junctions of Am Kochersgraben and Kernbergstraße and the lifting of the bus detour via Burgweg will be delayed by around two weeks compared to the last planned date. The work will be completed by 29.09.2025 at the latest. The advantage of this is that it will no longer be necessary to close the road again at a later date.
The laying of the fiber optic systems for high-speed internet was originally planned in the sidewalks. However, due to the existing trees, some of which have very shallow roots, an alternative solution had to be found. The civil engineering, pipeline and road construction work was coordinated in close cooperation between Stadtwerke Jena, Telekom as the client and the construction company Spie. Work will also be carried out on individual tree grates as part of the project.
The parties involved are aware that the construction work and in particular the detour traffic have caused considerable inconvenience for local residents. Unfortunately, these restrictions could not be avoided due to the limited space available and the complexity of the project. Stadtwerke Jena, the city of Jena and Telekom would like to thank the residents affected for their understanding and patience.
