Oßmaritzer Straße - road renovation and renewal of drinking water pipe

Kommunalservice Jena is carrying out a comprehensive road renovation in Oßmaritzer Straße together with the JenaWasser special-purpose association. The approximately 100-metre-long construction site begins east of the entrance to the "Galileo" community school and west of the junction with Bertolt-Brecht-Straße.

Work will begin on September 8, 2025 and is expected to be completed by November 28, 2025.

The scope of work includes the replacement of an existing drinking water pipe, the construction of a new crosswalk to the east of the school entrance, the extension of the existing bus stops with special kerbs and the reconstruction of the road surface including sidewalks. The construction work will improve road safety in the area around the community school and make the traffic system barrier-free.

To carry out the work, Oßmaritzer Straße will have to be fully closed in the affected section. Through traffic will be widely diverted during the construction period.

Residents to the west / above the construction site can reach their properties from Rudolstädter Straße via Oßmaritzer Straße, Hugo-Schrade-Straße, Schrödingerstraße and the upper section of Bertolt-Brecht-Straße.

Bus traffic will be routed via Hugo-Schrade-Straße and Ernst-Zielinski-Straße. The bus stop in the construction area and the Bertolt-Brecht-Straße stop will be closed during the construction period. As a replacement, a temporary bus stop will be set up in Hugo-Schrade-Straße near the playground.

For pedestrians, a safe route will be set up along the construction site during the entire construction period.

The work will be carried out in several construction phases, which means that restrictions may change depending on the progress of the work.

Kommunalservice Jena and Zweckverband JenaWasser ask all road users for their understanding for the restrictions associated with the construction work and recommend that they follow the signposted detour and instructions on site.
