On August 17, 2026, a new chapter in life will begin for seven young people: They will start their apprenticeships at Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ). Across a total of five apprenticeship programs, they will learn everything they need for their future careers. In 2026, KSJ will offer apprenticeships in forestry, automotive mechatronics, industrial business administration, electronics, and professional driving (open to all genders).
Right from the start, the new apprentices are right in the thick of things rather than just watching from the sidelines. They help keep streets and paths in good condition, repair vehicles, design and maintain green spaces, take care of traffic lights and street lighting, or drive trucks around the city. This way, they experience every day just how varied the tasks at KSJ are and how important their work is for life in Jena.
To ensure everyone gets off to a good start, during their first few days the apprentices not only get to know their own department but also many other teams. Facility tours, workshops, and a joint team event provide opportunities to exchange ideas, ask questions, and make initial connections. This fosters a positive working atmosphere right from the start. For many years, the KSJ has been known for its modern and hands-on training program. In addition to technical knowledge, teamwork, personal responsibility, and the trainees’ personal development also play an important role.
Anyone interested in starting their apprenticeship at KSJ in 2027 can apply starting October 1, 2026. The training program begins on August 23, 2027. All information about the apprenticeship programs, the requirements, and the online application process is available at https://ksj.jena.de/ausbildung.
The KSJ wishes all new trainees a successful start, much enjoyment during their training, and many exciting experiences on their career path.
