Vandalism at the Christmas market - theft of the disabled elevator controls

In the early hours of December 5, 2024, an incident of vandalism was reported on the Christmas market site. At around 03:00, the security service discovered considerable damage to the facilities in the market toilet.

The damage included a bent door in the ladies' toilet, a torn-off information board and the destruction of a security light. The automatic door at the entrance was also damaged and needs to be readjusted. Particularly serious is the theft of the disabled elevator's control system, which means that it is currently out of service for an indefinite period.

The emergency services of Kommunalservice Jena were on site and documented the incidents. The damage to property is estimated at around 1,800 to 2,200 euros. Further steps to deal with the case have been initiated.
