Wiesenstraße: Changed construction process

In addition to the press release of April 30, 2025, Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) informs about the upcoming full closure of Wiesenstraße and a changed construction process. The full closure will be in place from June 13 to 15, 2025. On these days, the new asphalt layers will be laid, which still have to cool down on Sunday. Contrary to the original plan, the asphalt will not be laid in two sections, but in one go. In addition to the surface course, the asphalt binder course will also be renewed in the area south of the access road to the EDEKA supermarket. Despite the two-layer paving, the main construction work will take two days.

Access to the wholesale market will be guaranteed during the full closure via a temporary entrance. This will be via a dirt road along Löbstedter Straße, coming from the street "Am Steinbach". All other properties in the affected construction section are also accessible - as announced before the start of construction. Residents have been informed accordingly.

Particular attention should be drawn to the traffic situation in the area of the traffic circle on Brückenstraße. Due to a difference in height between the old and new buildings, the traffic circle can only be accessed from Kunitz during the full closure. Road users coming from Naumburger Straße must therefore first drive to Kunitz and turn at the bus turning loop in order to enter the traffic circle. Due to traffic regulations, this turn is only permitted in a clockwise direction. The KSJ asks for your understanding for the associated detour.

The traffic sign plans, on the basis of which the responsible traffic authority has approved the full closure, show the detour during the closure period in detail and are enclosed with this information. Remaining work will be carried out for about a week after the full closure. As before, this work will be carried out with half-sided road closures. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for June 20, 2025. The next construction phase at the Brückenstraße traffic circle will begin immediately afterwards. When this phase begins, traffic from Jena in the direction of Kunitz will once again be routed regularly via Wiesenstraße.
