World Cleanup Day 2026

September 20, 2026, is World Cleanup Day. Around the world, people are working to create a clean and livable environment by coming together to pick up trash in their communities. In Jena, too, residents, schools, daycare centers, clubs, initiatives, and other groups can organize their own trash cleanup campaigns. 

Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) is happy to support you in this effort. If you’d like to organize an environmental cleanup, KSJ will provide you with litter pickers and specially marked trash bags. Please register your cleanup event in advance by email at umweltbildung-ksj@jena.de. Here’s how it works:

• Collect trash in an area of your choice in Jena.
• Place the full trash bags next to public trash cans or glass recycling bins.
• Let us know the locations via email so the bags can be picked up promptly.
• Then return the borrowed trash grippers to the KSJ Service Center at Löbstedter Straße 56.

We need the following information from you:

• Location or address of the cleanup area
• Desired date and expected number of participants
• Contact information for the organizer
