Kommunalservice Jena operates a nationwide collection system for used textiles and shoes.
The orange containers are mainly located at the collection points for glass and at the recycling centers.
The proceeds from the recycling of used textiles flow into the City of Jena's fees budget and thus benefit the residents. Alternatively, old clothes can also be handed in to the clothing banks of charitable organizations.
Please only throw in clean and dry textiles, packed in bags and sealed! The textiles must not be heavily soiled, worn, damp or musty.
Example: One or two small holes or two missing buttons in an otherwise clean sweater or shirt are not the problem and can help people in need. The emphasis here is deliberately on "badly", because nobody will reuse a badly torn shirt or a torn tablecloth that consists only of scraps of fabric, nor is it possible to make cleaning cloths from them.
