Construction and demolition waste

A distinction is made between construction waste and construction site waste.

Construction waste

is mineral, uncontaminated material resulting from construction and demolition work, e.g:

  • Hollow blocks
  • Ceramics
  • Bricks
  • Roof tiles
  • Concrete rubble, etc.

i.e.: no contamination from e.g:

  • Cold paint
  • Oils
  • Greases
  • Combustion residues

However, recycling costs can be minimized by providing roof tiles and concrete rubble (unreinforced/reinforced) separately.

Construction site waste

is mainly non-mineral waste that arises during construction activities, for example when cleaning buildings or dismantling construction sites, e.g:

  • Plastics (guttering),
  • Containers,
  • Cartridges,
  • Windows etc.
