Batteries and rechargeable batteries are an integral part of our everyday lives, but their improper disposal poses risks. Lithium-ion batteries in particular can ignite or explode if they are damaged or disposed of incorrectly. That's why they should never be disposed of with household waste!

Several collection points are available in Jena for safe disposal. Sales outlets that sell batteries generally take back used batteries free of charge. They can also be handed in at the KSJ recycling centers at Löbstedter Straße 56 and Emil-Wölk-Straße 13a. Important: The terminals should be covered with adhesive tape before disposal to avoid short circuits and sources of fire.

By disposing of them correctly, we all make an important contribution to environmental protection and safety. The KSJ therefore calls on people to consciously collect used batteries and hand them in at the designated points.

Further information can be found on the KSJ website under "Batteries and rechargeable batteries".
